Windows 10 Support Ended - What does that mean for me?

Microsoft Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, meaning it no longer receives free security updates, feature updates, or technical assistance. While Windows 10 PCs will continue to function, they are now more vulnerable to malware and viruses. To remain secure, users should either upgrade to Windows 11 if their PC is eligible, purchase a new Windows 11 PC, or enrol in the paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) program

What stops after October 14, 2025

  • Security updates: Microsoft will no longer provide free security patches for new vulnerabilities, which hackers can exploit.

  • Bug fixes: System errors and crashes will not be resolved.

  • Technical support: Microsoft will no longer provide technical assistance.

  • Feature updates: Windows 10 will not receive new features.

What will happen if you are still running Windows 10 after October 14, 2025

In short, probably nothing in the very short term, the PC will continue to function.

Although it will be at a higher risk of security threats and may eventually experience performance issues or software compatibility problems as time moves on.

By way of a simplified comparison, we believe that by continuing to run Windows 10 beyond 14/10/2025, it is like parking your car in every increasing dangerous neighbourhoods.  As the week’s go by – you may as well leave the doors unlocked.  As the Months tick over, you may as well leave the keys in the ignition as well.

We are not saying that you will be specifically targeted for attacks and threats, but most people don’t think enough like criminals and cyber criminals especially, to know why they might be targeted and how they will be attacked.  One thing is for sure criminals look for easy targets and cyber criminals use plenty of automation to search for easier targets.

By running Windows 10 NOT getting Security Updates and Bug fixes everyday, you become and easier and more vulnerable target.

You will also likely find that some programs, websites and functions of the computer may not work correctly.  As new features are developed, older operating systems like Windows 10 are less likely to be able to make things work because they are built differently.

For Example – One of the features that small businesses have used for years is File and Print sharing from one computer to another.  How this works has changed in Windows 11 (To make it more secure).
